Black on Black: A Statement Garden Room That Stands Out
Black Garden Room: When Design Is All About Impact
We’re always excited when a client wants something a bit different and this recent garden room project really delivered. The brief was clear from the start: sleek, bold, and fully black. That meant black cladding, black air conditioning, and even the internal walls painted black. The result? A striking space that feels premium, purposeful and completely bespoke.

Why Black
Black might not be the obvious choice for a garden room, but it works incredibly well in the right setting. It adds depth and contrast to a garden, especially when paired with lush planting or well-considered landscaping. For this project, it wasn’t just about making a bold external statement, the monochrome palette continued inside, creating a space that feels cohesive and deliberate.

The Details That Make the Difference
- Cladding: We used black Millboard cladding for a smart, low-maintenance exterior. It’s UV-stable, won’t warp or rot, and holds its colour beautifully, ideal for such a dark finish.
- Interior: The walls were professionally sprayed black for a flawless finish. When paired with the right lighting, a black interior can feel sharp and considered rather than dark or enclosed.
- Comfort: The air conditioning system was chosen in black to match the overall aesthetic. Function and design go hand in hand in a space like this.

A Gym That’s Built, Not Adapted
This isn’t just a garden room that happens to have a few dumbbells in it. It’s been designed from the ground up to handle proper gym equipment including a Smith machine, which requires stability, space and serious structural integrity. That’s where our steel frame build comes into its own.
We’ve future-proofed the flooring to handle weight, impact and movement. The electrics are tailored for gym use, and the lighting is spot on.

Thinking of Going Dark?
Choosing black for your garden room isn’t for everyone, but if you’re after something that looks and feels high-end, it’s worth considering. With the right materials and execution, it can be a standout feature in your garden.
