Garden rooms come in all shapes and sizes.
At InFrame, we construct steel framed garden rooms that are built to last and have many different purposes.
If you are looking to add a garden building to your property in London or across the home counties, then a major part of the process is deciding on a garden room design.
This is the stage at which we assess what you need from your garden room, as well as many other factors, and we decide on the structure we are going to build.
Working with a garden designer comes with many benefits, so it’s always a great choice to get the most out of your outdoor building.
But what goes on at this stage, and how can you make sure you get the perfect design for you?
Let’s take a look.
Different Elements of Garden Room Design
As soon as a potential customer contacts us regarding their interest in a bespoke garden room, we get to work planning what kind of garden room we could build.
This isn’t always straightforward, as factors such as garden shape, budget, and personal preferences make every garden room different.
Garden room design typically involves a combination of elements that work together to create a functional and aesthetically pleasing outdoor space.
Some of the aforementioned elements that can alter your garden room design are things like the location of the garden room, how does this affect the shape of the building? And will it change the layout of the windows so that more natural light can get in?
Size is also an issue. Garden rooms can be large structures, or smaller pods, and working out what can fit safely and conveniently is key to a successful build.
What about other elements of your garden, such as other structures and trees?
And there is then the issue of what you would like to use your garden room for. Whether you would like a gym, a bar, an office, or a fully livable annex, this will drastically change the furniture and equipment needed inside your garden room and therefore may change the design.
And don’t forget about the structure itself, with elements like doors, roofs, and more that can be altered and amended.
Sound complicated?
Well luckily for you we have collated five tips on how to ensure you always pick the right design for your new garden building.
Tips on Finding the Right Garden Room Design for Your Garden
- Determine Your Wants and Needs – The best place to start is by identifying your needs and preferences. What do you plan to use your garden room for? Do you need extra storage space or something more liveable? What style and aesthetic do you prefer? Through a thorough consultation with our team your answers will help us decide on the exact garden room design that would work best for you.
- Consider Your Budget – Garden rooms can range in price, depending on the size and complexity of the structure. It is vital that you have a budget in mind when you come to think about your garden room design, as this will give our team a good idea of the kind of garden room we can provide without spending more money than you are comfortable with.
- Research Design Ideas – While our team will come packed with great ideas for your garden room, it’s always worthwhile to have a look through our different offerings before we meet so that you can have a clear idea of all of the options.
- Consult with a Professional – This is a key stage, and by speaking with a member of our team, you will be able to know the garden room design that we think will work best for you. While no-one knows your preferences as well as you, we have years of experience in designing and constructing garden rooms in a wide range of different gardens and for different uses, so chances are we will have seen something similar to your vision before and may know the best way to approach the build.
- Plan and Assess Your Space – Where your garden room will be placed is a key consideration. Are you wanting to relax in the sun, or be tucked away in a quiet part of the garden where you can get your head down and work? Taking a look at your outside space will help us to decipher the best location for your garden room, and we will be able to plan the build accordingly.
InFrame Garden Room Design Options
Here at InFrame, we offer different levels to how much you can customise your garden room.
Option 1: Performance Frame
This option is just as it sounds.
It is a straight out of the box garden room structure with limited customisation.
Many of the key features, such as the placement of doors and windows will be standardised. This is our lowest cost option, but still provides a durable and sturdy garden room structure that you’re sure to love.
The performance frame will be delivered in a ready to complete form so the turnaround from order completion to installation can be lightning quick.
Option 2: Customisable Frame
A popular choice with our clients is our customisable frame option. This allows the customer to alter some things from the standard performance frame.
There can be large changes such as the cladding material and the frame detail and windows, to smaller details such as where the plug sockets are located.
This is a great option for customers who would like a garden room with some quirks and some personalisation that really makes it their own.
Option 3: Bespoke Frame Design
Our bespoke garden room design offering provides even more large-scale customisation options.
We take into account your garden and your preferences and can provide alternative shapes and designs to our structures to make something that really fits your outside space.
You can change the shape of the garden room, as well as other structures such as the roof.
Please note that this option may often result in a need to apply for planning permission.
Option 4: Unique Frame Design
For something really special, our unique offering is the option for you.
This is where we use our sister company, Studio Anyo, to design a garden room like no other. We apply for planning permission and handle all aspects of design, landscaping, and installation to deliver a garden room you won’t find anywhere else.
InFrame will manage the whole project, consulting with architects and landscapers to ensure a successful build and a stunning project at the end of it.
